Christ My Song - 1129
Is not this a brand (Thomas Kelly/Johannes Thomas Rüegg)
Is not this a brand.
"Is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?" (Zechariah 3,2)
1. Is not this a brand,
rescued from the fire,
by a mighty hand?
Look ye and admire.
'Tis a sight for you,
merit who have none.
See what grace can do;
see what grace has done. PDF - Midi
2. Such a brand am I:
rescued from the flame;
and to death how nigh,
when the Saviour came!
When he came to save:
came from heav'n above;
all my sins forgave,
and revealed his love.
3. Great the debt I owe,
more than tongue can tell;
saved from wrath and woe;
saved from lowest hell.
Lord, it is to thee
all this debt is due.
Let me thankful be;
full of love, and true.
4. Keep me by thy pow'r,
lest I fall away;
keep me ev'ry hour,
lest my footsteps stray.
Keep me to the end,
till the strife is past:
let me then ascend,
and rejoice at last.
Thomas Kelly, Hymns on various passages of Scripture, ca. 1853, Hymn 625.
