We look for joys to come
(Thomas Kelly/Johannes Thomas Rüegg)

We look for joys to come.

"I go to prepare a place for you." (John 14,2)

    1. We look for joys to come,
    we seek another home,
where all the saints together dwell,
    a blessed home it is;
    the Lord is there and his.
The thought of such a home is sweet. PDF - Midi

    2. But sweet to those alone
    to whom the Lord is known;
to whom the Saviour's name is dear.
    And why to them so sweet?
    Because they hope to meet
the Saviour, whom they trust to here.

    3. They hope to see his face,
    to sing his pow'r and grace
with all the ransomed saints above.
    To see him as he is,
    to be with him and his,
and never, never to remove.

    4. The prospect blessed is,
    no hope can equal this,
to be for ever with the Lord,
    who died that we might be
    from sin and sorrow free,
himself his people's great reward.

    5. But this the wonder is,
    that with a hope like this
our minds should still so carnal be.
    Forgive, O Lord, forgive,
    and suffer us to live,
and henceforth let us follow thee.

    6. Our strength, O Lord, renew,
    and let us keep in view
the home where all thy people meet.
    When safe arrived at last,
    the thought of dangers past
will serve to render home more sweet.
